Poznań, one of Poland’s oldest cities, is located in the western part of the country, halfway between Warsaw and Berlin. Its roots trace back to the 10th century, when it served as an early center of the Polish state and the seat of its first rulers. The city lies on the Warta River and has long been a hub of trade, education, and culture. Visitors can explore the stunning Renaissance Town Hall on the Old Market Square, the historic Cathedral Island (Ostrów Tumski), and the royal Przemysł II Castle overlooking the city. Today, Poznań blends rich history with modern energy, making it a vibrant destination for travelers.

In Case 001, we want to present some of the most well-known architectural landmarks worth visiting in Poznań. The Renaissance Town Hall, designed by Giovanni Battista Quadro in the 16th century, is a central jewel of the Old Market Square. To its left stands a charming row of colorful Merchants’ Houses, once used by tradesmen and craftsmen. Not far from the square is the elegant Raczyński Library, one of the oldest public libraries in Poland. And on Ostrów Tumski, the Cathedral marks the birthplace of the Polish state, where the first rulers of Poland accepted Christianity.
